Giving

The Foundation provides an easy, flexible and ethical mechanism to donate and all amounts, however small, are gratefully received. Donations are never spent. They are pooled and carefully invested, generating income which provides grants to Buderim-based community organisations in the 4556 postcode area and, in the case of the Thompson Charitable Fund, they are channeled to organisations providing support throughout the Sunshine Coast, to assist people in financial need.

The preferred payment methods are Direct Debit, Cheque or by automatic monthly instalments. We encourage donors to consider direct debit as this ensures 100% of the donation goes to the Foundation and avoids credit card fees being deducted from your donation.

When donating to the Buderim Foundation, you can allocate your donation to one of three accounts. One is for non-tax-deductible donations and other two are for tax-deductible donations.

1. Buderim Foundation Ltd Open Trust
This Trust accepts non-tax-deductible donations. The income generated from this Trust is used to provide grants to community organisations which do NOT have tax-deductible gift recipient (DGR) status under Australian tax law. This Open Trust, therefore, enables the Foundation to give grants to a wider cross section of community organisations in the 4556 postcode area.

2. Buderim Foundation Ltd Public Trust
As the Foundation is registered under the Commonwealth Corporations Act 2001, donations can be tax-deductible and so if you wish to receive a tax deduction then the Public Trust is the account to use. However, income from this Trust can only be used to provide grants to community organisations that have deductible gift recipient (DGR) status under the Australian tax law.

3. Thompson Charitable Fund
Donations are tax-deductible and income generated from this Fund can only be used to provide grants to community organisations which have tax-deductible gift recipient (DGR) status under Australian tax law.
