The Buderim Foundation currently manages the Buderim Community Funds and the Thompson Charitable Fund.
All funds are invested and the money held in the Funds is never spent thanks to the commitment of our two Major Sponsors and one Silver Sponsor, who cover the majority of the Foundation’s administration costs.
Buderim Community Funds
The Buderim Foundation Funds are raised purely through donations, bequests and fundraising activities in the Buderim region.
The interest gained from this fund provides grants to organisations that serve to enrich the Buderim community.
When donating to the Buderim Foundation, you can ‘Give where you live’ in Buderim. You can allocate your donation to one of two accounts …
1. Buderim Foundation Ltd Open Trust
This Trust accepts non-tax-deductible donations. The income generated from this Trust is used to provide grants to community organisations which do NOT have tax-deductible gift recipient (DGR) status under Australian tax law. This Open Trust, therefore, enables the Foundation to give grants to a wider cross section of community organisations in the Buderim region.
2. Buderim Foundation Ltd Public Trust
As the Foundation is registered under the Commonwealth Corporations Act 2001, donations can be tax-deductible and so if you wish to receive a tax deduction then the Public Trust is the account to use. However, income from this Trust can only be used to provide grants to community organisations that have deductible gift recipient (DGR) status under the Australian tax law.
Thompson Charitable Fund
In April 2021, philanthropists Roy and Nola Thompson entrusted over $5 million to the Buderim Foundation. An additional grants program entitled the Thompson Charitable Fund was established and the Buderim Foundation manages it.
The interest gained from this fund provides grants to organisations that support people in financial need throughout the wider Sunshine Coast region.
When donating to the Thompson Charitable Fund, your donation assists organisations to provide financial support to individuals in need across the wider Sunshine Coast.
Donations are tax-deductible and income generated from this Fund can only be used to provide grants to community organisations which have tax-deductible gift recipient (DGR) status under Australian tax law.
The Buderim Foundation would like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land, the Gubbi Gubbi/Kabi Kabi people and their intimate connection to Buderim and its surroundings. We pay respect to their traditions, customs and elders past, present and emerging.
