Buderim Foundation Community Funds
The Buderim Foundation is the fifth-largest of 40 Community Foundations in Australia. It is a philanthropic, not-for-profit organisation registered under the Commonwealth Corporations Act. It has Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status, meaning donations to the Buderim Foundation can be tax-deductible. The Buderim Foundation was launched by the former Governor-General of Australia, Dame Quentin Bryce, AC, CVO, on 6 April 2004.
Buderim Foundation Community grants were first awarded in 2008 and since then grants worth $829,767 have been provided to 97 community organisations in the Buderim Region. The donations and bequests are never spent thanks to our three very committed sponsors, our volunteers who donate their time and talent, and our fundraising events which help cover administration costs.
The income from investments in The Buderim Foundation is used to provide grants to Buderim-based organisations that strive to:
- Protect and preserve our natural environment
- Assist people in need to live healthy and fulfilling lives
- Add richness and diversity to local artistic and cultural endeavours
- Increase learning opportunities across all age groups
- Celebrate and showcase our heritage and local history
- Encourage and support those with sporting and other recreation interests
- Strengthen the social fabric of the community
- Support youth in our community.
You can allocate your donation to one of two accounts . . .
Buderim Foundation Ltd Open Trust (non-tax-deductible donations)
The income generated from this Trust is used to provide grants to community organisations which do NOT have tax-deductible gift recipient (DGR) status under Australian tax law. This Open Trust, therefore, enables the Foundation to give grants to a wider cross section of community organisations in the Buderim region.
Buderim Foundation Ltd Public Trust (tax-deductible donations)
As the Foundation is registered under the Commonwealth Corporations Act 2001, donations can be tax-deductible and so if you wish to receive a tax deduction then the Public Trust is the account to use. However, income from this Trust can only be used to provide grants to community organisations that have deductible gift recipient (DGR) status under the Australian tax law.
