Buderim Foundation Appoints Three New Directors - 21 November, 2007
Local community organisation, the Buderim Foundation, has appointed three new directors, Michael Bloyce, Ken Waddington and Margaret Welshe.
The Foundation, an independent, not-for-profit, philanthropic organisation, was established by the Buderim War Memorial Community Association in 2003 to attract donations from individuals, including bequests and tax deductible donations.
The new directors join Gary Hopkins (Chair), Simon Whittle (Vice Chair), Sarah Bird, Leanne Evans, Rohan Jackson, David Potts and Margaret Thursby on the Board.
Michael Bloyce has spent more than 30 years in arts and event administration, including time as an artistic director, administrator, venue manager (Nambour Civic Centre), lecturer and consultant. A Sunshine Coast resident since 1989, he was educated in economics and law at the University of Queensland.
Ken Waddington has degrees in commerce and law from the University of Queensland. Born in Roma and raised in Dalby, Ken has practised a solicitor on the Sunshine Coast since 1981 and is a partner of Garland Waddington. His particular areas of expertise include commercial structuring and documentation, strata title law, property development and estate planning.
He has been regularly involved professionally in the establishment of charitable institutions and sits on the Boards of several charitable foundations. Â
Margaret Welshe is a member of CPA Australia, the accountants' professional organisation, and is an internal accountant for several specialist medical practices. She and her husband Doug moved to Buderim in 1993. She was a member until recently of the BWMCA Executive and Chair of Finance and Compliance Sub Committee. Margaret is also Treasurer for the Buderim Australia Day Sub-committee.
Funds of the Foundation have already reached a quarter of a million dollars. The Foundation has said that when the fund reached a substantial total it would make grants from the income to local not-for-profit organisations that add to Buderim's quality of life.
