Twelve-year-old Ellie Neuendorf stole the show when the Buderim Foundation held a Moonlit Garden Gathering at the Neuendorf's Ormsby Park home on Buderim on Saturday, November 4.

Ellie welcome about 120 guests to her family's beautiful home to enjoy good food and good wine in a garden setting. And, yes, the rain stayed away and as Foundation Chairman Gary Hopkins spoke and introduced Ellie the clouds parted and the moon did shine - briefly.

Here is the text of Ellie's welcome:

"Buderim - B is for beauty; U is for unique; D is for diverse; E is for environment; R is for respect; I is for invest; M is for magnificent.

"All these letters that I have assigned words to sum up what I personally think Buderim is all about!

"Good evening distinguished guest, ladies and gentlemen. My name is Ellie Neuendorf and I welcome you here to my home at Ormsby Park.

"At the age of 12 I have been attending Matthew Flinders Anglican College for the last two years and previous to that I went to Buderim Mountain State School for five years.

"Even at my age I have recognised how important the Buderim community is to myself and others of all ages.

"I believe that the creation of the Buderim Foundation and the community support given to this Foundation tonight and in the future will make Buderim stronger and even better than the great town it is today.

"Three generations of Neuendorfs have lived in Buderim and I hope that future generations of my family will live and grow in this remarkable town.

"I think the Buderim Foundation is a fantastic thing and will open up many opportunities for Buderim. I feel that groups like the scouts and guides and even parks and the environment will benefit strongly from the Foundation. The Buderim Foundation helps to empower the Buderim society and make my generation, your generation and the generations to come love living here, just like I do.

"As a representative of the youth of Buderim I would hope that you enjoy yourself tonight. But please remember the future of our community. Thank-you."
