2009 Community Grants Available - 15 May, 2009
This year the Buderim Foundation will distribute an estimated $15,000 to local non-profit organisations to fund, or part fund, projects of benefit to the Buderim community.
An information session for community groups interested in applying for a 2009 Buderim Foundation Grant will be held in the Buderim Old Post Office on Wednesday 27 May at 5.30pm.
Grant applications open on 15 June and close 31 July. Successful grant recipients will be announced at the Foundation's Good News Night in September.
This is the Foundation's second round of annual grants. In 2008 Foundation grants were awarded to the Buderim Mountain State School P & C for its Archives Restoration Project; the Suncoasters Square Dance Club Inc. for Security and Access Lighting and the Buderim Scout Group for a new equipment shed.
The concept of a community foundation, and its ability to give grants, is simple. Donations to the Buderim Foundation
are carefully invested and the income is distributed as grants for community projects. Donations, however small, are never spent so the donor's gift to the community lasts forever.
The Buderim Foundation, an independent, not-for-profit organisation was established by the Buderim War Memorial Community Association (BWMCA) in 2003 and launched by the former Governor of Queensland, Ms Quentin Bryce A.C. in 2004.
