Resources for Organisations Seeking Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) Status

• Artsupport Australia, an initative of the Australia Council for the Arts to grow cultural philanthropy, has produced "An arts guide to philanthropic gifts and tax: the dry stuff" for not-for-profit arts and cultural organisations to understand the steps needed to gain DGR status and offer tax deductible receipts. It provides a one-stop-shop for tax and legal information about philanthropic fundraising. The most useful resource for  arts and cultural organisations is the "How to get DGR and what to expect". This resource is also useful for other kinds of organisations looking to apply for DGR status.
• The Australian Tax Office provides detailed information in its Gift Pack publication to assist organisations with applying for DGR status and to register as charity in Queensland. 
• Philanthropy Australia provide a Fact Sheet on Applying for DGR Status.
• The Federal Government's Register of Cultural Organisations offers a way for arts and cultural organisations obtain DGR status.
• The Federal Government's Register of Environmental Organisations offer a way for environmental organisations to obtain DGR status.
• The Fereral Government's Australian Sports Foundation offers a way for sporting organisations to obtain DGR approval for an eligible project.
• Pilch is a leading Victorian, not-for-profit organisation that provides a useful overview of the legal issues involved in raising money.
