After the Second World War, rather than build a cenotaph, the people of Buderim started a community organisation designed to be a living tribute to those who fought and sacrificed so much in the World Wars.
The Buderim War Memorial Community Association (BWMCA) remains strong today and organises many community activities. The headquarters of the organisation is the original post office building in Burnett Street, Buderim. This also acts as an Information Centre staffed by over 70 volunteers.
The Association presides over other community assets including the Memorial Hall in Main Street.
